Powered by AMG's 6.3 litre V8 engine, the 2010 E 63 AMG develops 386kW (518hp) and a mountainous 637Nm (465 lb-ft) of torque. AMG has installed its newly developed AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension system into the E63 to ensure all that power can be put to good use. Mercedes-Benz claims the E63 AMG will cover the 0-100km/h sprint in just 4.5 seconds, onto an electronically-limited top speed of 250km/h. The system features electronically controlled dampers and auto-leveling air springs in the back. AMG's SPEEDSHIFT MCT seven-speed sports transmission takes care of shifting duties with a multi-disc wet start-up clutch system replacing the torque converter (and reducing drive-train losses). In manual mode, cylinders can be deactivated while shifting occurs to allow considerably faster shift times. The system will also rev-match gearshifts and provides a Race Start feature. Standard features across the E-Class range include adaptive dual front airbags, full-coverage side airbags, window airbags, knee airbags, adaptive brake lights that flash in emergency braking, anti-lock brakes, brake assist, and electronic stability control. Mercedes' drowsiness detect system, Attention Assist, is featured along with Anti-whiplash head restraints, Pre-Safe occupant protection, a tyre pressure warning sysyem, a drowsiness detention system, auxiliary audio connector, and heated exterior mirrors. The price of the new E 63 AMG sedan has been reduced by $4056 compared to the outgoing model. Combined with additional features and equipment worth $28,100, Mercedes claims a total customer advantage of $32,156 is on offer. The 2010 Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG will be available from November, priced at $234,900, including GST and LCT but excluding dealer delivery and on-road costs.
